Malia Grace kicking off Kickstarter for EP with preview show

BeBobAlooza winner to offer fans a taste of new music

Over the past couple of years we’ve had the privilege of working with some amazing clients, but
we’ve never been prouder now that one of our favorites is ready to embark on the second half of what has thus far been – a short – but very promising career. Our own Malia Grace (née Malia LiVolsi) is currently working on her début EP with famed Austin-based producers Matt Noveskey (Orb Studios/ Blue October) and Johnny Vogelsang. She is planning to release seven songs in the spring of 2015 following a Kickstarter in January, which will help raise funds to complete the EP. To celebrate and kick off the upcoming effort she recently announced that she would be performing a preview show at Austin’s One-2-One Bar Dec. 29! Please find her full statement below:

I want to welcome my friends, family and fans to the next stage in my music career. As many of you know, I am currently working on my debut EP. I’ve enjoyed entertaining at local venues, parties, churches and even college and professional sporting events, and now I’ve discovered how special it is to put your own music on record to share with the world.

Over the past couple of months, I have been blessed to work with two amazingly talented producers, namely Matt Noveskey (Orb Studios/ Blue October) and Johnny Vogelsang. Under their guidance and with the synergistic input and participation from an all-star roster of local musicians whom I have been fortunate enough to cross paths with, I am putting together seven very special songs to share with you all in the spring of 2015.

Already, the songs for the EP have drawn some praise. A couple of months ago, my songs won the 2014 edition of BeBobAlooza, a prestigious songwriting contest judged by its Emmy award winning namesake Bob Cheevers, Sara Hickman, the president of the Texas Songwriters Association, and many other talented musicians/songwriters. I am beyond honored to have received this award, and cannot wait to share my music with you all!

In the coming months, we hope to complete and polish the effort for the EP. We will be holding a fundraiser via Kickstarter in January to help us complete the project and deliver the best product we possibly can. Until then, this month is all about celebrating the end of what has been an extremely special year for my team and me and about inviting all of you who have shown your support for me in so many ways over the years along for the ride.

Of course, no celebration would be complete without a party – so I’m throwing one! December 29th, I will be playing songs from my upcoming EP as well as some old favorites at Austin’s One-2-One Bar from 11 p.m. until midnight with a full band backing me up.

Please join us for a drink or two and some music that I guarantee will cure any case of the Mondays! Thank you all for your continuous support. I love every one of you and am so glad to share this life-changing experience with you.

Soul Track Mind’s “Unbreakable” named on of the best ablums of 2014 by MojoLists

Congratulations to our friends and clients in  Soul Track Mind  on having their latest studio effort “Unbreakable,” included on MojoLists Best Ablums of 2014! So, what constitutes a great album? MojoLists elaborates in the article:

“Great albums are more than a radio hit, they are a coherent collection of songs that share a vision or forward a story. It is a single work of art created from many pieces. The art of the album is lost on many of today’s recording artists, especially within the pop genre but that isn’t to say that is something new, just perhaps more prevalent. For as long as recorded music had a long play format, there have been albums with untouched B sides and others that compelled the listener to listen to the complete work, both sides.

These albums stand out as the very best of what all of us here at MojoLists heard this year, the albums that made us stop and pay attention, the albums that we will still be listening too for years to come. It was no easy decision either, 2014 has been one of the best years for music releases in a long time.”

Local singer-songwriter Chase Gassaway has stepped in to fill the gap and will be entertaining patrons with songs from his growing library of music, which includes the EP Certain Circles. Released in 2014 The Austin Chronicle asked if Gassaway could be the next Bob Schneider in its review of the album, which it gave three stars (out of four) extolling its, “message of hope and inspiration,” and calling it’s mix of upbeat mix of roots-rock, folk and piano delightfully infectious. Grace will return to the One-2-One stage Dec. 29.

His training, and the onstage lessons he’s learned as a solo performer and member of groups such as Canaries in the Coal Mine and formally the Matchmaker Band, has resulted in multi-textured pop songs that recall the Head & the Heart and Ben Folds. In a Chase Gassaway song, it’s not unusual to hear strings, horns, woodwinds and piano accompanying Gassaway’s engaging lyrics and slightly husky vocals.

Austin couture king Bennett seizes F1 stage to release new men’s collection

Fashion designer Ross Bennett, above at the Circuit of the Americas, is holding an official launch party for his new men’s line Saturday at Austin’s Brass House (8:30 p.m). As the official designer for COTA’s Grid Girls and an integral part of bringing the F1 experience to Austin last year. Bennett is hoping to draw a sophisticated and fashion savvy crowd to enjoy a night of exclusive shopping deals, signature cocktails and jazz.

Formula 1’s debut at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas in 2012 was by most accounts impressive, pleasing both longtime fans and the upscale and chic crowds from across the country and beyond that converged on the city for a weekend of fast cars, lavish parties and exclusive events.

Austin’s burgeoning couture king Ross Bennett was right at the center of that electric storm as the head designer for the 2012-2013 United States Formula 1 Grid Girls, and while his subtly sexy and uniquely Texas designs drew praise at the track and around town – Bennett thought an event of that scale deserved more than just a tiny peak at his considerable talent.

COTA’s Grid Girls sporting Bennett’s designs.

“Designing for COTA was an honor and a unique experience that I will always cherish. I’m very proud of the look we achieved with the Grid Girls,” Bennett said. “Still, when you have a stage of that size with so many people who live for and enjoy fashion as part of the audience – you want to be able to quench their thirst for design, not just give them a sip.”

With that in mind Bennett believes this weekend’s return of the United States Grand Prix to Austin is the perfect venue to unveil his signature line’s new haberdashery collection.

“We will be introducing our new line of cufflinks, bow ties, ties, gentlemen’s grooming and dressing accessories, everything a true gentleman needs in his closet,” said Bennett, who will host the RB Haberdashery Release Party and Formula 1 Celebration Saturday. “Attendees can enjoy an RBC Bowtie Martini or a Grand Prix Marnier cocktail and stick around for the sexy, sultry tunes of Kevin Ahart!”

Bennett will also be unveiling for the first time a limited edition capsule collection designed for Estilo Austin, and available exclusively in the much-esteemed boutique.

“This is a collection you’re not going to want to miss!” Bennett added.

The event begins at 8:30 p.m. at the Brass House, 115 San Jacinto Boulevard. Bennett chose the venue, the recent culmination of a shared dream of veterans and Bronze Star recipients Jason White and Gene Todorov while on duty in Afghanistan, because of its urbane and relaxed atmosphere.

“It’s an absolutely a gorgeous venue and the perfect backdrop for my work – sexy, classy and sophisticated,” Bennett said.

As a bonus the first 25 people to arrive at the event – sure to be one of the hottest in town during USGP Weekend due to Bennett’s fashion and COTA connections – will receive an online code for 25 percent off their first complete order from the men’s collection.
